Horses I Shoe
Every horse is different. With every horse, I take into consideration conformation and what the horse will be expected to do. Each shoeing application should address the demands of the horse's discipline, unique physical characteristics, and performance demands.
Hunter/JumperI find it important to provide heel support on these athletes, as they have a lot of load and impact on the joints and limbs overall. By shoeing for breakover and heel support, we can help protect against stress and crushing from constant landing.

DressageI like to shoe these horses very similarly to the jumpers. I find they benefit from easy breakover and a substantial amount of heel support.
|
ReiningI like to shoe reiners so that they can breakover quickly in the fronts, both medially and laterally. I like to apply sliders with support in the heels. Application will vary according to the individual.
|
Barrel RacingI like aluminums on the fronts to provide a fast breakover, with a steel rim on the hinds with extra support over the bulbs of their heels. These horses require extra shoe length on the hinds due to how deep they get in the ground.
